NMB Ball Bearings Basic Info
There are a number of factors that you will consider when selecting ball bearings. One is the ball bearing ABEC grade. Bearing tolerances are set by the Annular Bearing Engineering Committee (ABEC) of the Annular Bearing Manufacturers Association. The higher the ABEC number, the tighter the tolerances, meaning that every ABEC will have specific dimensional controls for the inner ring, outer ring and widths. Make sure that when selecting a bearing you take into consideration your tolerance requirments, so that you don’t end up with a higher ABEC than necessary for your application. Classes range from 1 to 9.
Another factor involved with the sale of bearings is cage type. Your ball bearing is designed with a steel cage for the balls. These can either come in the H type or the R type. Due to the appearance of these ball cages, the H type is also referred to as the metallic crown type, while the R type is referred to as the two piece ribbon type. Although either one is usually acceptable, you may want to look at both types, some miniature standard bearings will have only one type of cage available. Decide which one you feel is best for your bearings before the sale.
Different types of shields and seals are available for NMB bearings. These shields and seals prevent leakage and contamination, so you should give serious consideration to what kind of shields or seals you will need. NMB offers a wide variety of quality shields and seals to protect your ball bearing and your application as a whole.
NMB Ball Bearings Inch
You can size your ball bearing by inch or metric. NMB offers inch series ball bearings for standard radial open bearings (bore sizes .0400″ to .7500″), radial shielded bearings (sizes .0469″ to .7500″), radial flanged open bearings (sizes .0400″ to .3750″), radial flanged shielded bearings (sizes .0469″ to .3750″), extended inner ring radial open bearings, flanged or unflanged (sizes .0400″ to .3125″) and extended inner ring radial shielded bearings, flanged or unflanged (sizes .0469″ to .3125″).
NMB Ball Bearings Metric
Metric sizing is quite common for ball radial bearings. NMB offers the L Series ball bearing, the R Series ball bearing, and the 600/6000 Series ball bearing. For the L Series, ball radial bearings are available open or shielded, flanged or unflanged, at sizes of 1 to 10 mm for an open ball bearing, and 2 to 10mm for a shielded ball bearing. These types of ball radial bearings are available in the R Series as well, in bore sizes of 1.5 mm to 8 mm. The 600/6000 series offers ball radial open and shielded bearings in sizes ranging from 5 mm to 10 mm.
