Summary

The Technical Marketing Engineer is a new position created to improve the group’s technical knowledge of future trends in the automotive industry.  Through research of market conditions to identify emerging technology trends in the automotive industry, this person will help NMBTC understand the future trends and needs, as well as customer’s product technical requirements.  This role will be the key person to communicate this information to the development team, and then introduce innovative products to the marketplace by placing possible NMBTC products and supports the NMBTC sales team. Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Collaborate with the business unit manager to define the ten-year technical product development strategy for automotive products for NMBTC by:
        a. Conducting technical research – Gathering information on customer technical roadmaps and general industry technical trends.

        b. Analyzing the data and presenting summary information with recommendations to product management on a regular basis.

        c. Monitoring and forecasting technical trends in the automotive industry

        d.Creating relationships with the key people in the pre-development teams of the target OEMs and Tier 1 customers.

        e. Preparing and updating a five-year business plan that includes projected revenue from targeted specific product lines and accounts with data that supports the business case.

    2. Generate and develop new business accounts by executing sales and product strategies  through:
        a. External relationship development and communications – regular customer visits, either independently or with sales team to conduct interactive customer engineering discussions (will require domestic and occasional international travel)

        b. Providing timely and consistent reporting on customer interaction and application details as required (including customer contact tracking using  SalesForce.com).

        c. New Product Development – Provide technical support to identify new applications and coordinate with appropriate program management, factory, marketing and sales staff on development of new products.

    3. Perform other duties as related to the job function as required.

Job Qualification Requirements

    1. Bachelor Degree required (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or strong business degree).
    2. Exceptional research and analytical skills to compile large amounts of applicable technical information, identify trends, and present the results.
    3. Proven presentation and communication skills to present conclusions and recommendations using technical information.
    4. Critical thinking is required to form the market strategy together with the business manager.
    5. Automotive industry experience as a design engineer or field applications engineer (preferred).
    6. Comfortable as part of a multi-national organization as a team player in an international environment.
    7. Basic understanding of stepper motors, brushed DC motors, Brushless DC motors, lighting devices, sensors and LIN bus preferred.
